It is New Year's eve again and this is always the best time thinking about personal transformation. Make sure you are not looking forward to the New Year for a new start on your old habits, and old habits die hard.
Another crazy year…and a tough one for many… have we bottomed out in terms of global challenges or we are only seeing the tip of the iceberg. Things can get worse or better and nobody knows, but we’ve for do something. Anything is better the status quo. I was having lunch with Keith yesterday and talked about his personal transformation journey. I am very happy to spend time with him since more than a year. He is doing great.
Back to transformation, I believe ‘good’ is not good enough and ‘creativity’ means nothing to me as it is a commodity. Speed is important and is the most important one to achieve. Whether you’re talking about transforming you organization or your own personal life or career, the same principles apply.
Start with asking yourself “How are we doing today?” We need to be really honest about this. Ask yourself “Where am I?” Are you “stuck” or you’re already on your change path? The goal setting is the easiest path, commitment and coping with the fear of failure is hard. And stop making and believing your own excuses for failure.
Think about your own way of making a dent in the universe, at least your own little universe. Think big….think foolish. You know where this advice is originated. Get inside and find your core. What are you really good at? What sucks?
Attitude determines outcome and change the limiting beliefs and you can succeed where you previously have failed. Look around you; find a coach or a mentor that can help you though the journey. This is important because it is hard to see your own weakness and someone older and wiser can make a difference. Unless you have plenty of time to waste. No one does these days. Identify what knowledge you need to achieve your new goal and where to find them? Pay attention to your thought patterns or stream of consciousness. Start cultivating feelings of empathy can help you in your quest for a higher quality of life.
New Year is the best time to look and unfold new horizons, to realize new dreams, to rediscover your inner strength and faith, to rejoice in simple pleasures, to be grateful for what you have and to gear up (download) new widgets to prepare you for new challenges. Wishing readers here a truly fulfilling 2011!
